HKPC Showcases Innovative Automotive Parts and Accessory Systems at International Auto Parts Fair

Safety and eco-friendliness are the key features behind the latest automotive parts and accessory systems being showcased at the HKPC Pavilion at the Hong Kong International Auto Parts Fair from 28 April to 1 May 2007.

Organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), the Pavilion features an "Auto-Lab" displaying a range of auto parts and accessory systems developed by HKPC and its industry partners.

The exhibits and technology demonstrations include:

- The Digital Wireless Car Reversing Camera - a safety system developed in response to address the increasing number of traffic accidents involving car reversing (there were about 140 such accidents involving reversing goods vehicles in Hong Kong in 2006). Easy to install, the system can be connected to multiple cameras to provide reliable and free-of-interference video visual in the car reversing process.

- The Intelligent Window-Door Control and Alarm System - this system combines three major security features in one box, including power window control, ultrasonic burglar alarm and remote door lock.

- The Car Telematics and Communication Platforms – this is a stable and reliable system providing up-to-the-minute traffic information even without Global Positioning System (GPS) signals.

- The Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) – this is a green solution to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions with at least 30% saving in fuel and 60% reduction in vehicular emission.

- The In-vehicle Multi-play Multi-zone Digital Entertainment Platform – this system features a virtual CD changer, image/video playback and dual zone multi-source audio playback.

- The Fading Simulation Testing for Car Audio Receiver – this provides a cost-effective and timesaving solution for the development of automotive audio products. With its unique function to simulate any broadcast environment, it enables expensive 'field trials' to be conducted in the laboratory.

The "2007 International Conference for Asia Pacific Automotive Industry" will be held concurrently with the Fair from 30 April to 1 May 2007. Jointly organized by HKPC, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission and the Hong Kong Automotive Parts and Accessory Systems R&D Centre, the Conference will feature presentations by industry experts from Japan, Hong Kong, the Mainland, Mexico, the UK and USA.
