Hong Kong Forum of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics - Offers Experts' Insights on Innovative Applications and Technology Trends

(Hong Kong, 16 March 2021) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), with the funding support of the Innovation and Technology Fund of the HKSAR Government, will host the online Hong Kong Forum of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (HKFAIR 2021) with the Hong Kong Society of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (HKSAIR) on 20 March 2021. Industry heavyweights and distinguished scholars will introduce the innovative applications and development trends of the relevant technology in 2021 to promote the establishment of its development roadmap and smart industries in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary, and Mr Alfred Sit, Secretary for Innovation and Technology, of the HKSAR Government will be the officiating guests at the opening of the event.

HKFAIR 2021 will bring together leading experts in AI and information technology from Mainland China and Hong Kong and representatives from internationally renowned companies, including Professor Tan Tieniu, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice Minister of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Dr He Chao, Vice President and Head of AI of Wisers Information Limited; Mr Tony Xu, President of Huawei Ascend Computing Business; Mr Guo Wei, Chairman of the Board of DC Holdings; to share on the latest R&D of AI and robotics technology.

The event will also feature the inaugural release of the Hong Kong AI and Robotics Technology and Economic Development Research Report. Jointly compiled by HKPC and HKSAIR through thorough industry interviews and surveys, the report analyses the research and application level of AI and robotics in Hong Kong from five industry perspectives - smart city, intelligent manufacturing, smart health, smart education and FinTech, aiming to provide the industries with insights and enable them to plan for the future.

Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of HKPC, said, “COVID-19 has significantly reshaped our economy and way of life. It also makes us understand the importance of technology and adopt different technologies to overcome difficulties, turning crisis into opportunities.
